Green Lake Community Center to Offer Free Wi-Fi

  In an effort to expand Internet access to low-income Seattle residents, Google has given $344,000 to the city, according to The Seattle Times. This grant is part of Seattle’s Digital Equity Initiative, which “seeks to ensure all residents and neighborhoods have the information technology capacity needed for civic and cultural participation, employment, lifelong learning, and access to essential services.” The Seattle Times reports that about 15 percent of the city’s population does not have regular Internet access. Greenwood Gas Explosion Flattens Three Businesses, Damages 33 More

A natural gas leak caused an explosion between Greenwood Avenue North and North 85th Street on Wednesday. The leak was reported just after 1:00 a.m., and an explosion ensued 39 minutes later, according to King 5 News. The blast completely decimated local businesses Neptune Café, Mr. Gyros, and a QuickStop convenience store. Nine firefighters were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
