City to Remove The Illegal Skateboarding Bowl on Green Lake’s Duck Island

Skateboarding fans recently built an illegal concrete skate bowl on Duck Island, the unofficial bird habitat on Green Lake. The city has now removed the illicit construction. “That’s not actually good for the birds. We don’t want an artificially created birdbath. We’re concerned about how to minimize our presence and the disturbance,” said Rachel Schulkin, a Seattle Parks and Recreation spokeswoman. Green Lake’s Spud Fish & Chips to Close

We’re sad to say that Spud Fish & Chips at Green Lake will be closing in the near future to make way for development of a mixed-use residential and retail building on its current site. Luckily, the owners plan to lease space in the new building once completed, to bring Spud right back, but we’re probably looking at a couple of years without Spud Fish & Chips in the neighborhood. 41st Annual Jungle Party at Woodland Park Zoo

Put on your party hats and head to the zoo for an annual fundraiser, it’s the 41st annual Jungle Party!
