Seattle May Privatize the Green Lake Community Center and Evans Pool

The city of Seattle is considering a partnership with an outside organization to renovate and manage the Green Lake Community Center and Evans Pool. The city says the pool and community center need expensive upgrades. Seattle Parks and Recreation estimates it will cost more than $25 million to rebuild the facility. Seattle historians can cite only four times in the last 101 years that Green Lake has iced over from end to end. In 1916, photographs show hundreds of wool-bundled skaters crowding on the south end. Collision Between Fire Engine and Ladder Truck in Green Lake Hospitalizes 8 Firefighters

A Seattle fire engine collided with a ladder truck at about 8 a.m. on New Year’s Day, sending eight firefighters to the hospital and smashing into the storefront of a massage business near the intersection of NE 65th Street and 12th Avenue NE. The firefighters were taken to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation, but were released with no serious injuries. Dozens of Corgis in Ugly Sweaters Paraded Around Green Lake Last Weekend

Dozens of corgis dressed in their ugliest sweaters took a festive walk around Seattle’s Green Lake with their owners, last Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. Burglar Breaks into Green Lake Taco Shop for Tortilla Chips

On Saturday, November 5th, Tacos Guaymas was burgled for the fourth time in four months, but a high-quality home surveillance video helped to nab the culprit, when he fled the scene after being caught with chips and guacamole.
