Take in some fun holiday events in the neighborhood this month, with these exciting happenings around Green Lake…

All December: Wildlights
5:30pm – 8:30pm | Woodland Park Zoo
Participate in the wildest holiday lights festival in the city at the Woodland Park Zoo’s Wildlights, which features snowball fights with faux snow in addition to sparkling lights and of course Santa and his reindeer. Wildlights is through January 1st, although closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Fridays in December: Latona Pub’s Weekly Happy Hour Jazz
5pm – 7pm | Latona Pub
Latona Pub hosts a weekly happy hour in December, with live jazz music led by Phil Sparks, who is acclaimed as one of the best jazz artists in Seattle! It’s inspired by Boots, Barrie, and Murray, with happy hour bites and beer to enjoy while you listen!

December 1 – 24: “The Flight Before Xmas”
7:30pm | Seattle Public Theater at the Bathhouse
One of the theater’s two holiday shows, “The Flight Before Xmas” runs from December 1st through Christmas Eve. It’s about finding your way home over the holidays, in the midst of craziness at the airport for a variety of characters.

December 2 & 3: 37th Annual Winter Festival & Crafts Fair
10am – 5pm | Phinney Center
Get in the holiday spirit and find treasures for loved ones on your gift list at the 37th annual Winter Festival & Crafts Fair, December 2nd and 3rd. The 120 featured artists and craftspeople have been handpicked, featuring home goods, art, pottery, apparel, jewelry, accessories, and more. There will be life performances on two stages, plus lunch, an espresso bar and bake sale (cash or checks only). Buy a wreath made by The Phinney Neighborhood Preschool Co-op for $25 each to support the school and its scholarship fund, and participate in a quilt raffle — one of the Festival’s beloved traditions.  

December 7: Costume Jewelry Sale
1pm – 7pm | Greenwood Senior Center
Discover beautiful and unique costume jewelry, both modern and vintage, at the Greenwood Senior Center’s Costume Jewelry Sale! The center’s Practice English Talk Time group has been collecting the jewelry since October for this special event, and there is lots to look through. This event is free to attend, and proceeds benefit the Greenwood Senior Center.

December 8 – 24: “Christmastown: A Holiday Noir”
7:30pm | Seattle Public Theater at the Bathhouse
Seattle Public Theater is doing a second holiday show, “Christmastown: A Holiday Noir”. It’s a thriller by local playwright Wayne Rawley, about a detective who is on the hunt for the truth about Santa Claus due to some strange shenanigans happening around town. The play runs December 8th through 24th.
