Fridays in May: Latona Pub’s Weekly Happy Hour Jazz
5pm – 7pm | Latona Pub
Latona Pub hosts a weekly happy hour, with live jazz music led by Phil Sparks, who is acclaimed as one of the best jazz artists in Seattle! It’s inspired by Boots, Barrie, and Murray, with happy hour bites and beer to enjoy while you listen!
May 6: Starry Night Auction
5pm | Phinney Center
Join neighbors and friends for a night of astronomical fun and fundraising at the Phinney Center Starry Night Auction on May 6th. Donate items such as parties, dinners, vacation condos, cabins and unique experiences to make the Phinney Center’s biggest fundraising event of the year a success. May 10: Long Shadows Wine Dinner
6:45pm | Nell’s Restaurant
Nell’s monthly wine dinner is coming up on May 10th, featuring seven ultra-premium wines from Long Shadows Vintners in the Columbia Valley. This one-of-a-kind six-course dinner prepared by Chef Philip has been expertly paired with the amazing Long Shadows Wine collection for the May wine dinner evening at Nell’s Restaurant. May 12 & 13: The BIG One Art Walk
12th: 6pm – 9pm, 13th: 12pm – 5pm | Phinney Ridge
This free art event celebrates the Phinney Ridge and Greenwood neighborhoods with highlights including the NW Fine Arts Competition, the first annual Seattle Recycled Arts Festival hosted by Urban Light Studio and live music at a number of locations. Surrounding restaurants and pubs are encouraged to participate with music or specials in the spirit of the art walk theme of “Art Up, Chow Down”. May 13: Mom & Me at the Zoo
9:30am – 3pm | Woodland Park Zoo
The 27th Annual Mom & Me day at the Woodland Park Zoo is all day on Saturday, May 13th. Moms get half-price admission to the zoo, and there will be lots of activities for the whole family in the North Meadow.
May 14: Moms Eat Free for Mother’s Day
All Day | Greenlake Bar & Grill
Mom’s eat free (one complimentary entree per mother) on Mother’s Day at Greenlake Bar and Grill.
May 19: Opening Night of “Grand Concourse”
7:30pm | Seattle Public Theater at the Green Lake Bathhouse
The next mainstage performance at the Seattle Public Theater at the Bathhouse is “Grand Concourse”. It’s about Shelley, a Bronx soup kitchen operator who has dedicated her life to religious service. When college dropout Emma arrives to volunteer, she pushes Shelley to the breaking point with her reckless generosity. “Grand Concourse” runs through June 11th.
May 20: Happy Bird Day & Early Morning Bird Walk
6:45am – 3pm | Woodland Park Zoo
It’s International Migratory Bird Day on May 20th, and the Woodland Park Zoo is commemorating the day with a special early morning bird walk and other activities throughout the day. Meet at the south entrance for the walk at 6:45 a.m., which lasts until 9 a.m. Then, visit the booth on bird info and educational materials, hosted by Seattle Audubon. There will be also be zoo docent carts on hand, coffee samplings from Caffe Vita, and a scavenger hunt.
