The holidays will be here before we know it! In the meantime, check out these fun activities and Green Lake events happening in November…

Fridays in November: Latona Pub’s Weekly Happy Hour Jazz
5pm – 7pm | Latona Pub
Latona Pub hosts a weekly happy hour in November, with live jazz music led by Phil Sparks, who is acclaimed as one of the best jazz artists in Seattle! It’s inspired by Boots, Barrie, and Murray, with happy hour bites and beer to enjoy while you listen!

November 4: Day of the Dead Festival
4pm – 7pm | Phinney Center
The Day of the Dead is a Latin American festival to commemorate the dead, and the Phinney Neighborhood Association is hosting a Day of the Dead Festival to offer a chance for family and friends to celebrate the lives of their loved ones who have passed on. This free celebration includes a community procession, altar for offerings to the deceased, live music, dancing, face painting, sugar skull decorating crafts, food and Mexican hot chocolate for all to enjoy.

Saturdays in November: Seattle Folklore Society Concerts
7:30pm – 10pm | Phinney Center Concert Hall, Brick Building
On most Saturdays this month, the Seattle Folklore Society is hosting evening concerts with live performers. General Admission is $16 – $20 depending on the event.

November 5: Closing Night of “The World of Extreme Happiness”
7:30pm | Seattle Public Theater at the Bathhouse
A riveting story of personal growth, coming of age and learning to challenge the status quo – “The World of Extreme Happiness” tells the story of Sunny, a young girl in rural China who is abandoned as a baby due to her gender. She survives and eventually works her way into a coveted career, pulling herself out of poverty. Unfortunately, her efforts put a co-worker at risk, causing her to question the system. This show runs through November 5th.

November 11: 30th Anniversary Winter Beer Taste
7pm – 10pm | Phinney Center
Sample beers and ciders from more than 35 breweries at the PNA’s Winter Beer Taste! The main event starts at 7 p.m. with 10 tasting tickets, pub-style snacks and a silent auction of beer paraphernalia. Tickets are $25 for PNA members, $35 for non-members and $10 for designated drivers. Or, you can get into a special Preview Tasting starting at 6:15 p.m. for an extra $25 to receive a glass, sliders and slaw to snack on, and no lines.

November 18: Turkey Toss
10am – 2pm | Woodland Park Zoo
As part of the Woodland Park Zoo’s animal care and enrichment program, the annual Turkey Toss is coming up November 18th. Carnivores at the zoo will get to enjoy a special treat of raw, store-prepared turkeys for their own Thanksgiving feast!

November 18: 8th Annual Seattle7Writers Holiday Bookfest
3pm – 5pm | Phinney Center
Books make great gifts over the holiday season, and local authors are gathering for the 8th year in a row for a special book buying festival. Visit the Phinney Center on November 18th for the Seattle7Writers Holiday Bookfest, and hang out with 30 Pacific Northwest authors as you browse and buy books – they’ll have pens in hand to make your holiday gift even more special!

November 25: Holiday GloCone Lighting
5pm – 6pm | Phinney Center
Happy Holidays! A family-friendly night of cheer is happening on November 25th, as lights and monkeys will set the Phinney Center’s air raid tower aglow for the annual Holiday GloCone Lighting ceremony and festivities. This free, family-friendly event includes light refreshments, caroling and other holiday activities.
